Comfortable Leadership: Why Your Camp Chair Matters

As Boy Scout leaders, you work hard all year round to prepare your scouts for summer camp

It's only natural that you want to relax and recharge while you're there. One of the most important pieces of gear for leaders during summer camp is a comfortable chair.

I know what you're thinking - what's so special about a chair? Well, let me tell you, it's not just any ordinary chair. It's your camp chair, the one that will be your home base for the week. You'll spend hours in it, whether you're chatting with fellow leaders, observing your scouts, or simply taking a break.

I learned this lesson firsthand when I brought both a basic and comfortable chair to summer camp. The basic chair was fine, but the comfortable lounger was a game-changer. There's nothing quite like lounging on a soft, cushioned surface after a long day of camp activities.

But comfort isn't just about personal preference - it's also important for your role as a leader. When you're well-rested and relaxed, you're better equipped to handle any situation that comes your way. And with at least two adults required to be present at camp at all times, you need to be sharp and focused.

So don't neglect your own comfort during summer camp. Bring a comfortable chair, take breaks when you need them, and remember to walk around the campsite regularly to ensure everything is running smoothly.

You've worked hard all year long, and you deserve this. Take some time to relax and recharge with your fellow leaders - it's an investment in yourself and your scouts that will pay dividends for years to come.
